As an experienced and accomplished Native Artist, Wayne Price, of the Chilkat First Nation Thunderbird Clan, creates master quality fine art in the honored and traditional style of the Tlingit Tribe.  Wayne uses his Master Carver skills to produce totem poles, canoes, paddles, drums, screens/panels, masks, bentwood boxes, and dance/ceremonial regalia.  Other artistic skills include designing and engraving Tlingit art form jewelry (silver & gold bracelets and pendant necklaces), and making silk screened Tlingit art prints. Wayne began his carving career in 1971 at Alaska Indian Arts in Haines , Alaska , at the age of 14.  He diligently apprenticed with artists/carvers Leo Jacobs, Ed Kasko, John Hagen, and others, gaining expert knowledge and instruction on how to make and use tools, as well as to design and create 2 and 3 dimensional art of the Northwest Coast , with an emphasis on Tlingit style. Wayne has carved over 33 totem poles throughout Southeast Alaska since 1972, and earned the reputation of Master Carver.  His totem poles, masks, designs, and carvings, can be found throughout the world, especially in Alaska and the Northwest US .  Several books, videos, publications, and magazines feature Wayne and his carved art pieces as examples of exemplary craftsmanship.  He and his work are sought after by visitors to Alaska .  Wayne has completed several art projects for museums, art institutes, schools, and Native corporations.  Native organizations, museums, and schools continually invite Wayne to speak and instruct programs and workshops on the traditional art of carving and tool making. Wayne is committed to insuring the preservation of Tlingit First Nations culture and tradition.
